June, 2008Lambada UFM-13 makes the cover of EAA Sport Pilot Magazinehttp://www.sportpilot.org/magazine/ April 14, 2008The Urban Air USA Team returns from Sun-n-Fun 2008. The 11 member team has completed the first show of Urban Air Lambada at the Sun-n-Fun event. With 3 locations at the show and 3 aircraft on display, the Lambada received the attention it deserves. The response and interest exceeded expectations and the aircraft production slots are now sold out till mid summer.April 6, 2008Urban Air USA and SALSA Aviation Inc. entered into marketing agreement of the S-LSA Lambada in the Central United States. SALSA Aviation Inc. is based close to San Antonio, TX at the Boerne Stage Field. SALSA Aviation Inc. will be a full service center for all Lambada customers in the Central United States.April 2, 2008First S-LSA Lambada arrives to Flight Design West of Minden, NV Jim Lee, the Sales Director of Urban Air USA finished the first Coast to Coast flight in the New Lambada S-LSA launching from Melbourne, FL and arriving to Half Moon Bay, CA. The plane was then delivered to Flight Design West in Minden, NV and will serve as the Demo aircraft for West coast customers.February 24, 2008Trip to Albuquerque, New MexicoWe departed Melbourne, FL on February 9th, with stops at Seminole Lake Gliderport, and Leesburg, on the way to an overnight stop in Panama City. The next day took us to Boerne Stage Field outside of San Antonio, TX to meet with our dealer, Bob Bruce. The Lambada didn't need to stop, but I did, twice, on the way, to stretch my legs. Upper level westerlies kept us within 2000 feet of the ground where winds were thankfully light and variable. A demo flight and low clouds allowed a late start the next day. We climbed through an opening to fly VFR on top for 3 hours against the building northwest wind. The clouds gave out, and we dropped low, flying 500 to 1000 feet off the deck to partially escape the 20kt headwind. It was interesting being so low in the red desert country, and we sent coyotes and antelope running for cover. The air was choppy but not too bad. I called my friend Mark Mocho in Albuquerque as we cruised low over a small town with a cell phone tower. He warned me of lenticulars and high winds, so we stopped in Roswell for the night rather than try to sneak into Moriarty after sunset without position lights. The next morning also brought strong northwest winds, so we flew lower, hugging the gullies to try to keep the groundspeed into the upper 80's. Total stats for the Melbourne-Moriarty run were: 1550nm-16.2hrs-96kts average groundspeed-57 gallons 100LL burned- 3.5gph-5000rpm On arrival at Moriarty, Mark hopped in with me and flew as we motored to 9000msl, (climbing at 800fpm), contacted the wave, shut down the engine, and soared to 15,000msl. We hopped over the Sandia Mountains, ridge soared for a while, then cranked up to hop over the back to the wave again, and then on to Moriarty. I caught some wicked crud in Albuquerque after one day at our booth, so Joe flew in for emergency relief and did most of the demo flights. Jeff Shingleton (owns 2 Lambadas!) helped out at the booth, as he did in Sebring. We sold a plane to a fellow who showed up at the convention to buy a Stemme S10, not even knowing about the Lambada. But following 2 demo flights in the Lambada with Joe, he was sold. We made many more contacts, including Lee Clauser who owns a Texas ranch with an airstrip, and who offered a stop on my flight home. We departed Moriarty on February 18, bound for Boerne Stage again, as Bob Bruce had another Lambada prospect to fly the plane. There was a strong northwest wind blowing, so we cruised at 11,500msl to average 121kts. On the 19th, we flew to Lee Clauser's ranch, making the first aircraft landing on his strip. Lee and I flew to the Stephenville Airport for a couple of landings before flying back to his ranch. We soared with the engine off, and then glided in to his strip and coasted to a stop in his front yard. After a quiet night at the ranch, we pushed on to the Sycamore Airport outside of Ft. Worth to fly with Ken Withrow. Then at 11am we left for Panama City, arriving at 4:30pm for a 628 mile non-stop run at altitudes up to 13,000msl, with almost half fuel remaining. Total stats for the Moriarty to Panama City run were: 1396nm- 12hrs- 116kts average speed- 40 gallons 100LL- 3.4gph- 5000rpm 2946 trouble-free miles!
